Blue Waters Career Initiative Day
At Blue Waters, we believe it is important to help pave the way for younger generations, and assist to inspire them. That’s why Blue Waters was thrilled to partner with A&B Tourism Authority and the 2013 Teen Splash Committee to help make a young one’s dream come true!
The Teen Splash Committee’s career day initiative allowed one lucky delegate in the annual Teen Splash competition to come to Blue Waters and spend the day with someone in the field they hope to pursue as a career in the future.
We were pleased to welcome 16 year old Wole Bernarde, a student of St. Joseph’s Academy, to the resort on this career initiative day.
Wole has a keen interest in the culinary industry and hopes to become a chef one day. We couldn’t think of a better way to help him realise this dream than by letting him see what goes on in our kitchen! Wole was in good hands though, as he was under the supervision of Jnr Sous Chef Richard “Leon” Alphonso.
Leon recently finished first place in the preliminary competition for the 2013 Mango Pineapple Competition, and has successfully participated in other competitions also, proving that he has true culinary flare in the kitchen. Who better, then, to guide Wole on his career day?
Wole and Leon spent the day cooking in the kitchen, creating wonderful dishes, and discussing what it’s like to work in the food industry. Sometimes there’s no better way to figure out what you want to do until you actually do it, which is why we encouraged Wole to see first-hand how our kitchen operates!
We hope that Wole does well in his upcoming competition, and that his day spent in our kitchen was a useful insight into the culinary industry. Blue Waters wishes him the very best of luck in all his future endeavours!
