Six Great Reasons to Visit the Caribbean this summer
With so many places to visit, choosing a summer holiday destination can be a laborious and confusing task, so here’s our list of reasons why the Caribbean is blowing everyone else out of the, crystal clear, water this year. Plain and simple.
Value
We may know that a good time equals an expensive time, but not in Antigua! There are plenty of tasty little packages and value for money room rates to snap up across the summer period on this beautiful island, meaning you can sprawl out on your (complimentary) towel on an endless beach without re-mortgaging your home! In fact, you’ll make a jaw dropping saving of 54% at Blue Waters resort in Antigua, if you travel between late April and mid-December, as opposed to between late December and January; meaning you get all the sun, sea and serenity with more left over, and on that note, we’ll go get the cocktail menu…
Quieter
Nothings worse than clambering over rows and rows of sun loungers to find a tiny spot of sand on which to lay your beach towel. Proceeding to spend the rest of the day dodging Frisbees and beach balls, with your eyes squeezed shut to prevent sand blinding you as children run past, uncomfortably close to your head. Well not in Antigua! Resorts here are usually less busy in the summer, meaning your only problem at the beach or by the pool, is deciding which sun lounger to call home for the day! Blue Waters resort offers a haven within a haven, a peaceful space of serenity in the spa, an oasis of calm by the pool and a sanctuary of tranquillity along the sumptuous coastline. In particular, the quaint Gazebo perched at the edge of the Blue Waters Garden and surrounded by the turquoise waters of Soldiers Bay, is the perfect place to curl up with a juicy novel, with the only disturbance to the silence coming from the gentle ripple of the sea. Golf courses are also quieter during off peak months in Antigua, often offering cut price green fees and restaurant options as well as shops offering great deals and sale prices (and no queues).
Climate
No packing for extremes is necessary with a holiday to Antigua as the temperature remains constant throughout the year, leaving you extra space for bikinis, speedos, sun dresses, toiletries, suntan lotion, flip-flops… sorry we got carried away. Remaining at around 80°F, we forecast contended smiles and warm summer satisfaction all around. And don’t be disconcerted by the occasional rainfall, wet spells in the Caribbean are brief and pass almost instantly. Even during off peak months the sun remains beaming down, with the cool winds sweeping in from the sea helping to lower humidity and keep you comfortably warm during the day.
Quality
Also high on our agenda, is quality, something Antigua offers in abundance, with an incredible range of hotels and resorts ranging from four to five star thus allowing you all the choice without the chance. From around late December until mid-April package prices for hotels and resorts often fall by around half, meaning it’s the perfect time to be utterly indulgent without paying as much as those who travel here during peak season.
Beaches
Our final reason for visiting Antigua this summer is not simply one single reason, it is a plethora of reasons all tied up beautifully together: the beaches, 365 of them to be more exact. Antigua’s beaches remain constant all year round, meaning that whatever time you visit you’re sure to enjoy an abundance of stunning beaches, with water sports on offer all year round as well! In particular, Dickenson Bay, just five minutes drive from the beautiful Blue Waters resort, boasts flawless white beaches and crystal clear waters with a whole host of restaurants and bars to quench your thirst or hunger during the day. Aside from perfect sunbathing spots and great sandcastle terrain, you can join in a variety of water sports or head to some of the little unoccupied islands just off shore. April is also a great month to enjoy sailing during the Sailing Week in Antigua, whether you prefer to watch from your firmly planted sun lounger on the shores or get involved yourself is up to you.
Sound good? We think it sounds great. All that remains for you to do is book your ticket, we’ll see you soon!
